We are accepting 14 visual artists to SMMART with a goal of 50% Indigenous representation. Applications are open to Saskatchewan-based artists practising all mediums of visual art. Visual artists will be interviewed and recorded working in their own personal studios, if applicable. A video crew will be sent to the studio location and will also take high-quality photographs of the artist’s work. These photographs will be made available to the visual artists at no charge, along with the interview and studio footage. Visual artists do not have to live in Regina or travel to Regina. We will send our crew to you. If you do not want to be filmed in your studio environment, we can make alternative arrangements to film at the Creative City Centre in our Hague Gallery. Please read the general and the visual art guidelines before applying.
Application deadline: June 25, 2021
WHEN?
Applications will be accepted now with a deadline of June 25, 2021. Artists will be notified if they were accepted into the program by the end of July 2021. The digital content creation will occur in August and September. The online training program will commence in October or November and run until January/February 2022 (allowing a break for winter holidays.) Because this is a pilot project, the timeline is subject to change. It will depend on how quickly we can get people scheduled for the video shoots, editing and other factors.
